News from Tyler’s Friends

12th November 2024

🌈🩷💙🌈 It’s never quiet at Tyler’s Friends headquarters, always so much happening.
Today we have welcomed on board 2 new trustees to help the team and help us raise much needed funds.
Please welcome Lacey Wellman – here is her story.
Hi my names Lacey I am 30 years old and a mother to 3. 2 boys aged 10&2 & a baby girl who was born sleeping.
It was through the loss of Rosie I met Kirsten at Tyler’s friends and quickly realised how amazing this charity was and sadly how many people needed their help.
Since then I’ve stayed in touch tried to help raise money to help the next family in need.
I will be forever grateful for Tyler’s friends without them we wouldn’t have Rosie’s beautiful headstone. I look forward to joining the Tyler’s friends team, meeting you all & organising more fun events for everyone to enjoy to support those parents in need ❤️

🌈💙🩷🌈 A massive thank you to everyone who came and supported us at our Christmas Fayre today.
To the stall holders, the visitors and the helpers, you really did make a huge difference and we are so grateful.
Thank you for observing the 2 minute silence prior to opening the doors.
We’ve still got a little money counting to do, I’m confident we’ve raised around £1,000!
A huge success and will go a long way to helping families.
Giving up our time to do events, makes it all worthwhile when we raise such an awesome amount, so thank you again to all you fantastic people

🌈💙🩷🌈 Good evening,
Tyler’s Friends have been contacted this week by a family lead nurse, who is supporting a family who lost their baby a few months ago.
The family are struggling to find the funds to pay for the memorial.
The cost of the memorial is £969.60. As you know our funds are still dangerously low. We’re putting a shout out to all you lovely people to ask if you can donate just a £1 or £2 to raise as much as we can to help this family.
We’d really appreciate your help. Our bank details are

25th September 2024

🌈❤️💙🌈 Good evening everyone, as you know we always do everything we can to help families. This also means making sure they are being charged correctly.
In July 2019, a new system was put in place to help families who lost a baby (after 24 weeks) and children (under 18) towards burial / cremation costs. The funeral director or burial / cremation authorities will complete these forms.
It’s amazed me that after 5 years, numerous funeral directors / councils etc are still charging families!!
We’ve received many emails recently for financial assistance and it’s astonishing how many families are being charged, one showing the cemetery fee of over £600!!!!
Please if you are discussing a funeral / burial / cremation or memorial with a funeral director or cemetery office, check the fees and question them if you’ve been charged! If you need any advice, please contact us and we will help.

🌈💙❤️🌈 Good evening everyone, this post may sound a little harsh and deep at times, but sometimes it’s needed to put the point across. We’ve done so well over the last seven years helping as many families as we can, we’ve spent seven years fundraising, giving up our time and making this charity as successful as possible. It’s not always been easy. We’ve had some real tough times where the bank account has been dangerously low and we’ve had to put a shout out to all you lovely people and ask you to dig deep which the majority of you have, so thank you.
About six months ago our funds were dangerously low and we were fortunate enough to bring that money back up so we could carry on helping families, sadly we are now back to dangerously low funds.
We’ve never had to turn a family away and we don’t ever want to. We believe we have been very generous in our contributions helping families to have the funeral or memorial of their wishes. We rarely ask for anything in return but now we are because if we don’t, we won’t be able to help any more families and we will have to close the charity down.
It can be very disheartening for us all, when we have so many people who have promised to help raise money so we can help other families, just like others have helped us so we can help them, don’t follow it through. It’s even tougher when some can’t even say thank you! Unlike so many other charities, we don’t get paid, every single penny we raise goes to helping families, we all do this around our full-time job and it can be tough and exhausting.
There have been so many families who have continuously given something back whether that has been coming to our events, buying raffle tickets holding their own raffles, setting themselves a challenge and it has been very much appreciated.
To keep this charity going, we really need you to help us by donating, even if it is just £1 a month it all adds up.
We don’t want to sound ungrateful or needy, but we are now at the stage where we have no choice if you want to keep this charity going.
Thank you for all your support.
11th August 2024
🌈❤️💙🌈 Happy 7th Birthday to Tyler’s Friends.
It’s insane to think 7 years ago we started this journey helping families who have lost their precious baby or child too soon to have the funeral or memorial of their wishes!
We have been honoured to help over 100 families during this time. Paid out over £200’000! All thanks to your incredible donations, you’ve helped us in so many ways. Without you we wouldn’t be able to keep doing what we do.
It’s not been easy at times, especially when our funds have got dangerously low, but we’ve managed to get through them and continue helping our families.
If you’d like to help us celebrate 7 years by donating £7 as always it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you again for your support

Nothing is set in stone as of yet, ideas welcome too! I’m hoping to be inundated as the more of you there are, the more money that is raised for our charity.
Please share share share!!! Let’s make this another successful event.

I headed back to the baby gardens this morning, thanks to everyone who has been up in the week to start making it look beautiful again. It’s looking so much better.
Myself and a friend, thank you Claire Powell and her Son spent just over an hour raking, pruning and de-weeding.
Charlie Mowlam and some of the family were also there tidying and pruning. It’s amazing how a few hours here and there can make such a difference. Hopefully we can keep on top of it.
Every now and then we will arrange a meet up, if you can’t make it but you are able to pop up at any time, just take a rake with you and some secateurs and do what you can.

3rd June 2024

🌈💙❤️🌈 I think the pictures say it all!! This was the sight we were greeted with when we turned up at the Forget Me Not Garden this evening to start tidying it up!!! I have no words, well I do, but just not appropriate to say on here! A few of us attended tonight to make a start, but it really is like trying to clean your teeth with an Oreo in your mouth!! Sadly we couldn’t be there for long this evening, but we made a little start! It really does need a major tidy up and lots of people to help. The more there is, the quicker we can get these gardens looking beautiful. Parents, Grandparents and family members should be able to sit in tidy and well kept gardens when spending time with their little ones.
Let’s get a team of us together and tackle this jungle and make it one of the most beautiful gardens you’ve been too.
If we set up a group to tidy up once a month during the summer. May be on a Sunday morning, who would be interested to come along and help?
Please can I ask all parents / families who have a precious little one in these gardens, can we have your permission to dispose of dead flowers and any broken toys etc? We found quite a few broken vases, glasses etc tonight and for safety reasons we’d like to safely throw them away

Kirsty is almost half way there with her fundraising mission. Please donate if you can and support this fantastic lady and of course Tyler’s Friends.
🌈❤️💙🌈 The wonderful Kirsty Gamage has set herself a challenge to raise money for Tyler’s Friends. Please read her story below and donate if you can. Every penny helps.
This summer I will be swimming 10 kilometres continuously from Sandbanks to Fisherman’s Walk to raise £1000 for Tyler’s Friends. My swim will take place anytime in between June and September and must coincide with an incoming tide and favourable weather. I have a number of dates pencilled in but I will keep a close eye on conditions and will be decided on the day, please keep an eye on my Facebook page for updates. This really will be a challenge for me as my longest continuous swim to date is only 5k! I will have a swimmy friend joining me to keep me company in the water, and my husband supporting us in a kayak along the way. I won’t be using any aids like fins and I will be wearing only a swimming costume, swim cap, goggles, ear plugs and a tow float for safety. What is my impetus for this challenge of such magnitude?!?! Well, my beautiful daughter Suzi is disabled and unfortunately her passing before myself crosses my mind from time to time. So instead of feeling sad I decided to plan this swim, and raise some money along the way. Please support this amazing charity, even if just a little..it all adds up. Thank you

14th May 2024

🌈❤️💙🌈 Good evening,
I’m sure you can all remember just a couple of months ago we had under £500 in our charity account and we were struggling to help families.
Thanks to our very successful Tyler’s Friends Mini Festival, we have been able to help 9 families in the last week, and in the next couple of weeks we will be assisting a few more.
We know by helping these families in a small way has put a smile on their faces at such a difficult time.
A huge thank you to you all again for making this possible.

11th May 2024

🌈💙❤️🌈 Good evening, we’re still waiting to give you a final total from last weekend, fingers crossed we can share this with you soon.
We’re slowly contacting the raffle winners and delivering the prizes. Please bear with us, we’re back at work and it’s been a busy week.
The owner of the Pandora bracelet still hasn’t come forward, if any of you are on community groups, please pop a post up and ask if anyone lost one at the Holme Bush last weekend!
If you purchased green raffle tickets last weekend and are in possession of numbers 261 to 265 please pop us a message

🌈❤️💙🌈 Good evening folks
Just want to thank you all again for your amazing support over our Tyler’s Friends Charity Mini Festival Weekend.
It truly was fantastic and we are still on a high. We still have more to add to the total, but at the moment our total is £8,718.88!!!!!
Danni set a target of raising around 7k, and as it stands I know once I’ve added other money, we will be over 9k!!!
We really are just overwhelmed and this will help our families so so much. So, thank you again.
Next year we want to go bigger and we can only do that with your help and support.

6th May 2024

I’m still counting, but at a guess I’d say we’ve gone over £8,000!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
On Saturday we found a Honda key and fob (grey masking tape holding it together) in the car park at the Holme Bush, we did put a shout out but no one has claimed!
Yesterday a Pandora bracelet was found, if you have lost one, please get in touch and describe the charms so we know it belongs to you.
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are now going to take a much deserved rest, before we start planning next years!!

money to help families

11th April 2024

🌈💙❤️🌈 In 2018 one of our trustees Danni Stephenson lost her precious baby Daughter Nevaeh who was only 8 weeks old.
Time stood still for Danni, her Husband Jay and their Son Jaiden. Tyler’s Friends helped Nevaeh have the beautiful goodbye she deserved. Danni has always done everything she can to give something back to the charity to enable us to help other families. A few months ago Danni came on board as a trustee and has worked tirelessly ever since to help us raise money, especially as our funds have been dangerously low recently.
Danni is a grafter and doesn’t give up, she’s put together the bike ride in memory of Nevaeh and a mini festival at The Holme Bush on the 4th and 5th of May. She’s been phoning, emailing and writing to as many companies and organisations as possible asking for donations or raffle prizes.
Today, Danni received this email from Cherries Community Fund at AFC Bournemouth to say they will be donating £2,500 to enable us to help families. The excitement when Danni told me was brilliant, she was over the moon and very proud of herself and so she should be. We at Tyler’s Friends are incredibly proud of her dedication to raise money to help families, who have sadly lost their precious baby or child. It’s not easy for Danni as all the memories come flooding back, but she’s determined to make Nevaeh proud and I firmly believe she’s very proud of her Mummy.
Danni is making a huge difference within our charity and is helping us at such a tough time and thanks to this generous donation we can breath a little and help the families who have contacted us recently.

7th April 2024

50 people very kindly joined us for bingo night tonight, great prizes were won and we raised over £760 which is fantastic.
Thank you all so much for your support you were all amazing.
A massive thank you to our bingo caller Rich for entertaining us all

31st March 2024

Happy Easter 🐣 to you all.
We’d like to thank those who have very kindly donated over the last couple of weeks. Your support means so much to us.
In the first 3 months of this year we have contributed £9,527.07 towards funeral and memorial costs. We are finding more and more families need our help and we still have requests where once we have the funds we will be helping those too. At the moment as soon as the money comes in it’s going straight out again. We wouldn’t have been able to help these families without your continued support.
Our funds are still dangerously low and yet again we find ourselves with less than £500 in our account.
If anyone can help us by donating a £1 or £2, joining our bingo night on the 7th of April, entering the bike ride on the 4th of May or coming along to our mini festival, please do as every single penny at the moment will make a huge difference.
We are still looking for raffle or tombola prizes, if you have any items you can donate, please get in touch.
As always we thank you for your support

26th March 2024

🌈💙❤️🌈 We now have a contact number for Tyler’s Friends.
Telephone number is – 07895 560781
We can’t always answer the phone, so please send a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
A massive thank you to a lovely friend for offering to pay the monthly fee, it really is appreciated

12th March 2024

🌈❤️💙🌈 As you know we love receiving emails saying we’d like to donate to your charity and last week we received one. A massive thank you to Poole & Wimborne Woodland Burial Ground & Funeral Directors for their generous donation of £1,000!! With our funds dangerously low this has given us a big boost. I met with the lovely Elisa Way today, who works at the Burial Ground, and she gave us an even bigger boost by telling me they want to raise more money for Tyler’s Friends. Elisa very kindly showed me the baby / children burial section which is called Poppy’s Field and how we can use this area to remember babies and children gone too soon. It’s still very much work in progress but we’d like to offer memorial plaques to those who don’t have a place to go to remember their baby or child. We would also like to place a wishing well in the garden to place plaques. We are all very excited to be working on this project and to continue helping families. We will keep you updated

7th March 2024

🌈❤️💙🌈 Good evening, a bit of a mix and match post tonight.
We would like to thank Victoria New and Melissa Farmer for their recent generous donations.
We are currently going through a few changes within the charity, if anyone would like to organise an event or set themselves a challenge and raise money for us, please get in touch, we really could do with help at the moment. We are also looking for someone to take on the position of Vice Treasurer, if you are interested please send us a message.
It’s been a very busy time over the last few months for our trustees personally, we hope to be back in full swing shortly and if you are waiting for a response from us, please give us a nudge and send us another email and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
We are still working very hard to raise much needed funds as they are still dangerously low. At the moment as soon as money comes in, it’s going straight back out to help the families who have asked us for financial assistance.
Please don’t forget our upcoming bike ride and mini festival on the 4th and 5th of May.
Thank you all for your continued support

7th March 2024

🌈❤️💙🌈 I had a lovely chat with Faith Eckersall from the The New Stour & Avon Magazine last week. Faith always reaches out to our charity when we are in need and does all she can to highlight our work and give a shout out to the magazine readers when we are in desperate need of help with raising money xx Our funds are still desperately low so please donate if you can admin@tylersfriends.co.uk (PayPal)

20th February 2024

🌈❤️💙🌈 Good evening, we are reaching out to you all again. Please read and donate if you can. A family has reached out to us and told us their story of their precious little girl. If you’re not in a position to help, please share and keep sharing xx Let’s pull together like we did last week and help this family remember their princess xx
Im not sure if you help with children with Alice’s condition but I thought I would ask. I have a question which is ok to be refused I completely understand if this is something you are not able or allowed to do. Last year in April I lost my little girl due to medical negligence. We are still fighting for answers and going through court. She was a special little girl. Alice, she was 2. Alice had congenital heart disease and had multiple surgeries from birth. Alice also has 3 siblings who were on this incredible journey with her. They were the best of friends. I took Alice to hospital last year due to low saturations which were common with a heart baby but what happened during the months of February to April were details I can’t even comprehend. I’m going to attach a link so you can see as her story went viral. Her story needed to be heard, she was a warrior and I wanted everyone to know that. Alice loved a place called Roath park. It’s a beautiful park in our area in Cardiff. There’s a lake, wishing well, ice cream and beautiful scenery. Alice and her siblings adored this place. Since Alice has passed, I can’t bring myself to go there. It’s coming up to a year in April on the 8th without Alice, it’s been ten months so far without her. I wondered if you could help in raising funds for a special bench for Alice in memory of her to go at roath park. I’ve had permission from my local council to be able to have this bench plotted, but getting the bench and getting it made especially for her and her memory has become difficult. The cost of the bench is £500. I know that may seem like it’s not a lot but I’m not in work at the moment due to the loss of her. I’m wondering if there is anyway you could help me raise this amount to be able to get a bench for her at her favourite place so then me and her siblings can visit and we could be together in some way. I completely understand if this is something you are not able to do, I just thought with the anniversary of her death coming up, to make it light rather than dark. Alice’s siblings are only 7, 6 and 4 years old. They miss her deeply and this is something they suggested to me to do for her. Alice was our puzzle piece, our glue. She was such a warrior and the amount of pain she endured was not something she deserved. She fought to live weighing a tiny 4lbs and had her first open heart surgery weighing that much. From then on she kept going. She kept proving us wrong. She was incredible. She was my best friend. I hope this message finds you. I hope this doesn’t come across as rude or offensive in any way. I just would like some help for her, for her memory. Thank you for taking the time to read. Here is the link for her story and my Facebook page is filled with her. She’s a beautiful girl. Very special to my heart. I will send you the link incase you would like to see what happened what happened to Alice although I don’t want to trigger any unnecessary feelings. Thank you for taking the time to read. Emilia

🌈💙❤️🌈 A huge thank you to all those who answered our SOS last week. Through your generous donations by simply donating or holding raffles, we raised over £1,000! As I’m sure you can appreciate most of what was raised has already been spent helping families. So, with this in mind, this weeks challenge is to raise £627.50 to help our next family! All we need is 100 people out of the 4000 plus on this page to donate just £6 each. I’ll also be holding a couple of raffles to help us reach the target. I will also start by donating £12. As always thank you for your continued support as we get ourselves through this hard patch

8th February 2024

🌈❤️💙🌈 Good evening, as a small charity we are always honest with you and let you know if our funds are low. We’re not ashamed to admit it’s hard work and raising money isn’t easy. In 7 years we’ve been going, we’ve been very fortunate to keep going thanks to your donations. Keeping our heads above water has been a struggle at times. We’ve helped well over 100 families and have paid out almost £200k!! So many families we have helped have given so much back so we can help the next family. No matter how small, it’s gone a long way. Of course there are some families who haven’t been able to help us in return because they’ve not been in a position to. Tonight though this is one MAJOR HUGE SHOUT OUT FOR HELP. Our bank account is dangerously low. It’s never been this low. We currently have just £430.61 !!! I’m sure I don’t need to tell you this doesn’t even cover a memorial. Please please please share the hell out of this post! Donate, raise money for us anyway you can. This is a call out to everyone we’ve helped, if you haven’t been able to help us in the past but can now please do. We really do need to get money coming in and at the moment only you can do this. Let’s raise as much as we can to help this family. If we can get as close as possible to the £923 owed would be fantastic. Let’s take the pressure off this lovely family and do what the Tyler’s Friends followers do best and that’s raise money. Any amount no matter how big or small will help. Thank you in advance

🌈❤️💙🌈 We absolutely love receiving messages from people offering to raise money for Tyler’s Friends. This was a message we received from Kirsty just before Christmas –
I’m an open water swimmer and this year I completed a 5k continuous swim and raised money for SANDS, Next year I’d like to complete a 10k continuous swim and would like to support your charity. I will swim from sandbanks to around fisherman’s walk.
👍🏻The swim will be in between May -September, date tbc. I will aim to swim from sandbanks to fisherman’s walk continuously with my husband in a support kayak, which is 10k. I love swimming in the sea and challenging myself in the water. I would like to raise
1K
Many thanks, Kirsty.
If you’d like to sponsor Kirsty, her sponsorship page will be shared on here in the next month or two

28th December 2023

🌈❤️💙🌈 As 2023 comes to a close, everyone at Tyler’s Friends would like to say thank you to each and everyone one of you for your continued support.
This year we have contributed £44,123.04 to helping families! A total of £93,781.81 in just 2 years!!! Every single penny we raise goes to helping families. All the trustees and helpers are volunteers, we DON’T get paid!! We have had challenging periods over the last 6 years, but we’ve managed to get through and that’s because of the support we get from you.
2024 is going to be another busy year, we receive at least one request every week for financial assistance. The team are already getting their thinking caps on for next years events.
How can you help us?

14th December 2023

🌈💙❤️🌈 Good evening to you all. Sometimes it seems like all we do is ask you lovely people to donate to us, but sadly we do need your help. Now more than ever, we appreciate it’s Christmas in less than 2 weeks, but in the last couple of weeks we have received over 10 requests from families asking us to help them. We are doing everything we can, but our funds are dangerously low. If you can donate £1 please please do, share to your family and friends, ask them if they can spare a £1 or £2. It really would be appreciated. If everyone who followed our page donated £1, we’d have over £4’000 and this would go a long way to helping these families. As always thank you for your support

2nd December 2023

🎅🎄⛄️❄️ Thank you to everyone who very kindly came and supported us today at our Christmas Fayre. The final amount is still to be confirmed but we are close to £700 which is brilliant and as you know goes a long way to helping the many families who we are assisting at the moment.

🌈❤️💙🌈 Good morning to you all, wow, what a weekend. We have so many people and business’s to thank and over the next few days you will be hearing from us, but we would just like to say how truly grateful we are to each and everyone of you for making our first ever mini festival a huge success.

Over 4,000 followers, now is the time to donate and help us keep Tyler’s Friends open

We receive at least one request a week and we’re struggling to keep up. Our funds are still dangerously low. We need all the money we can get to continue helping

🌈❤️💙🌈 Good evening, we would like your help please. We’ve received a request for help towards the funeral costs from a family who sadly said goodbye to their 13 year old Son.
